Google started distributing Android 17 QPR1 Beta 8, fixing audio glitches, NFC issues and fingerprint unlock problems across supported Pixel devices.

Google has begun rolling out Android 17 QPR1 Beta 8 to a wide range of Pixel smartphones and tablets, following the earlier release of the QPR2 beta. The update retains the July 2026 security patch and addresses several bugs, including an audio framework buffer management flaw that caused loud distortion and static during media playback and notifications, a connectivity problem with the Pixel Tablet Speaker Dock, a regression in NFC services that prevented certain tags from being read, and a failure of fingerprint authentication to trigger on unlock attempts.

"You can report issues via the Android Beta Feedback app on Pixel devices," Google advises, noting that the app is accessible from the application drawer or Quick Settings and that users may also discuss problems on the Android Beta subreddit. The beta is available for Pixel 6 through Pixel 10 models, the Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, and the Android Emulator.
