Rescuers found four bodies of climbers killed in a Broad Peak avalanche in Pakistan, while the search for British-Nepali climber Nirmal Purja remains ongoing.

Rescue teams in Pakistan have recovered four bodies of mountaineers who were caught in an avalanche on Broad Peak, officials said on Friday. The deceased include Nadhira Alharthy, the first Omani woman to summit Mount Everest, and American climber Sarah Mallory Geis, according to a statement from local authorities. A third identified victim is Pur Bahadur Gurung, who was part of a separate expedition led by British-Nepali climber Nirmal Purja. The identity of the fourth climber has not been disclosed.

The rescue operation was halted on Friday evening because of adverse weather conditions and is planned to resume on Saturday, the Gilgit-Baltistan government said. Drone footage helped locate several of the bodies.

"The rescue team spotted a few dead bodies of the climbers through drone footage," the government statement read.
