Boy George Withdraws from London Production of Jesus Christ Superstar After Releasing Pro-Israel AI Song

Résumé

Boy George's manager announced that the singer will no longer appear in the London staging of "Jesus Christ Superstar" following the release of his AI-generated song supporting Israel.

Boy George will not perform in the London Palladium revival of "Jesus Christ Superstar" after his manager confirmed his withdrawal on Instagram. Paul "PK" Kemsley said the decision was made out of respect for the production team and to allow the show to continue without distraction.

"After careful consideration, I have decided, in my capacity as Boy George’s manager, that he will no longer be appearing in Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium," Kemsley wrote.

Kemsley added that George has a history of standing by his convictions and that stepping aside was intended to protect the interests of both the artist and the production.

The move follows the July 27 release of "We Will Dance Again," a pop-reggae track written with artificial intelligence that expresses support for Israel. The song’s lyrics reference conflict and include lines such as "You say genocide, I say war / When you’re attacked, that’s what the army’s for." George confirmed the AI involvement on social media, describing the process as "AI for good" and noting that he would have found it difficult to write the song without the technology.

He also indicated on another platform that the track has affected personal relationships, mentioning a strain with some friends.
