Husband of missing North Carolina tourist says authorities see no foul play in Grenada disappearance

Résumé

Cailen Waddell said the investigation into his wife Liz Waddell’s disappearance on July 22 in Grenada is ongoing, but he and local officials believe no foul play is involved.

Cailen Waddell posted an update on his family’s website indicating that he, along with Grenadian authorities and the U.S. Embassy, believes there was no foul play in the disappearance of his wife, Liz Waddell, who vanished on July 22 while traveling with a friend. The couple had been swimming near Grand Anse beach around 5:30 p.m. when she was last seen on video. Waddell said she had expressed confidence in her swimming ability and praised the island’s beauty.

He noted that family members, friends, local officials and volunteers have been searching for her for a week without success, and that the missing-person investigation continues as authorities try to trace her movements between the earlier video and the later sighting in the water. "No detail is too small," he added.

Waddell thanked those involved in the search and requested privacy for his family, stating that further statements will be issued if new information emerges.
