U.S. and Ukraine Agree to Share Drone Technology as Trump Announces Hamas Deal and Threatens AG Nomination

Washington and Kyiv have signed a pact to send Ukrainian-made drones to the United States for testing, while President Trump publicized a proposed Hamas disarmament agreement and warned he could withdraw his attorney-general nominee.

Washington and Kyiv have reached an agreement that will allow Ukrainian-manufactured combat drones to be transferred to the United States for evaluation, officials said. Ukrainian Ambassador Olga Stefanishyna and a senior U.S. administration official confirmed the deal, which follows a February meeting between President Donald Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that ended with a pause in U.S. aid to Ukraine.

The arrangement comes as the United States faces a growing shortage of munitions amid ongoing conflicts, and Ukraine has emerged as a leading producer of inexpensive, agile drones used against Russian forces.

In a separate development, President Trump posted on Truth Social that he had reached an agreement with Hamas leaders that would lead to the group’s “complete disarmament” through a structured process overseen by a new Palestinian government and his "Board of Peace." Israeli officials, however, indicated that the proposed terms were not acceptable, leaving the deal’s durability uncertain.

Trump also warned that he might withdraw his nominee for attorney general, Todd Blanche, if two Republican senators who have opposed the nomination remain in office. Senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis, who have raised concerns about Blanche’s background and a related IRS settlement, responded that the president’s threat was politically tone-deaf and that they continue to seek written assurances from the Justice Department regarding an “anti-weaponization” fund.

"I would be mistaken if I thought only Senator Cornyn and Senator Tillis had concerns," Trump said in a statement.

"Politically tone-deaf," Senator Tillis said in a post on X.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has postponed a vote on Blanche’s confirmation, extending the stalemate over the nomination.
