Giants hold second training-camp practice in West Virginia with notable performances

Résumé

New York Giants completed day two of training camp at the Greenbrier, highlighting strong showings from Abdul Carter, Kayvon Thibodeaux and others, while several players faced setbacks.

The New York Giants conducted their second practice of training camp on Thursday at the Greenbrier facility in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Defensive end Abdul Carter impressed coaches by outperforming Andrew Thomas in drills, and wide receiver Malik Nabers participated in individual sessions for a second consecutive day. Kayvon Thibodeaux recorded an interception of a Jameis Winston pass and returned it for a touchdown, while veteran receiver Braxton Berrios continued to make catches in back-to-back sessions.

Undrafted free-agent kicker Dominic Zvada capped the workout with a 57-yard field-goal attempt after a one-second drive led by backup quarterback Brandon Allen. Defensive tackle Leki Fotu registered a tackle for loss and several disruptive plays in the backfield.

The practice also saw several players struggle. Undrafted defensive tackle Ben Barten was released and replaced on the roster by linebacker Anfernee Orji. Tight end Theo Johnson dropped a pass for the second day in a row, and rookie running back Dante Miller fumbled a short reception that was recovered for a touchdown by linebacker Micah McFadden.

Head coach Brian Harbaugh emphasized a fast-paced approach, noting that the Giants have avoided extensive walk-throughs in favor of full-speed 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 drills. > "He knows he’s going to play a bunch," Harbaugh said, referring to Thibodeaux’s role.

Co-owner John Mara attended the session despite ongoing health challenges. Fans were allowed to watch the practice, marking the first public attendance at a Giants camp this year.
