Sheriff says DNA test on hair sample from Nancy Guthrie home produced no profile
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that a hair recovered from the home of missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie did not yield a DNA profile, and investigators continue to analyze other evidence.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News Digital that a hair found inside the home of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie, failed to produce a DNA profile after testing in a California laboratory. "Yes, there was a hair. We had it and thought, 'OK, we'll do the DNA first,'" Nanos said, adding that the result was negative and that the sample will be retained for possible future analysis.
The sheriff noted that the hair is only one element of a broader DNA effort that includes multiple samples and investigative genetic genealogy, which aims to generate leads from family-tree data. He said investigators are working with the FBI and several crime labs to examine additional evidence collected from the residence.
