IRGC says attack on Jordanian base killed U.S. soldiers, U.S. denies aircraft damage
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed a strike on Jordan's Al-Azraq air base killed U.S. personnel and damaged aircraft, a claim the U.S. military rejected.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Telegram that a missile and drone attack on Jordan's Al-Azraq air base killed several U.S. soldiers, destroyed three F-35 fighter jets and damaged three additional aircraft. The statement said the strike was retaliation for U.S. attacks on Iran's Qeshm Island the previous evening.
The U.S. Central Command refuted the Iranian claims, stating that no U.S. aircraft were destroyed or damaged and that all missiles and drones were intercepted or failed to reach their targets. The U.S. military did not confirm any fatalities among its personnel.
Earlier, Iran's state news agency Tasnim reported that three IRGC members – Mahmoud Mollajabari, Mohammadreza Cheraghi and Jamal Amiri – were killed in a U.S. missile strike in Zanjan province. The two nations have exchanged strikes over the past week after a period of relative calm in the region.
"We're going to hit them very hard, because now it's our turn to hit them. They know it's coming," President Donald Trump told reporters, warning of a strong U.S. response to Iranian attacks on American forces.
