Rumored iOS 27 Features Include Expanded Siri Chatbots and Camera Customization

Resumen

Apple's upcoming iOS 27 may add third-party AI assistants for Siri, new health-app tools, third-party image and text generators, a customizable Camera interface, and multitasking support for a rumored foldable iPhone.

Apple is testing several new capabilities for the upcoming iOS 27, although they have not yet appeared in the current beta. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says the next version of Siri could let users switch between multiple external chatbots, such as Claude and Gemini, alongside the existing ChatGPT integration. The toggle interface is already present in the beta, but only ChatGPT is currently selectable.

The Health app is also slated for AI-driven enhancements that were originally part of an internal project called “Mulberry.” Planned upgrades include more detailed blood-sugar tracking and the ability to use the device camera to monitor workouts, though these are expected to arrive in a later update rather than the initial release.

Apple may also open its image- and text-generation tools, like Image Playground and Writing Tools, to third-party providers. At present, these features rely on ChatGPT, but testing has involved Claude and Gemini, suggesting future support for additional AI services.

A customizable Camera app interface is another reported change, allowing users to add widget-style controls across the top of the screen. While iOS 27 introduces a new Siri mode for the Camera, the customization options have not yet been enabled.

Finally, Gurman notes that iOS 27 could support side-by-side app multitasking on a forthcoming foldable iPhone, rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra. Several Apple apps already run in landscape mode, hinting at preparation for a widescreen device.

"Apple is also planning to open up Siri to outside chatbots beyond OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which is already integrated into the software," Gurman wrote.

"The Apple Health app is getting a range of new AI features that were originally planned for a comprehensive health coach service internally dubbed ‘Mulberry’ that was scaled back," he added.

These features remain unconfirmed and may appear in future iOS 27 updates.
