Tigers' ace Tarik Skubal linked to multiple teams as trade deadline nears
Detroit pitcher Tarik Skubal, who recorded his 1,000th strikeout, is being discussed as a potential trade target for the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers ahead of the August 3 deadline.
Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal allowed three runs on four hits over 6⅔ innings against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, recording his 1,000th career strikeout in the process. The performance has intensified speculation about his future as the MLB trade deadline approaches.
Analyst Jim Bowden noted that the Milwaukee Brewers, a smaller-market club, appear to be the most likely destination for Skubal, though he acknowledged that the Los Angeles Dodgers are also showing interest. Bowden said the Brewers are "the most likely landing spot" for the pitcher.
MLB Network commentator Jon Morosi reported that the Dodgers are actively monitoring Skubal as they seek to strengthen their pitching staff for another postseason run, particularly given recent health concerns for Shohei Ohtani.
Skubal has indicated he does not want to be traded, but the Tigers could consider moving him if they decide not to pursue a postseason bid, potentially securing valuable assets before he becomes a free agent.
