Mauricio Pochettino is in advanced talks with the United States Soccer Federation for a contract extension that would keep him as head coach through the 2030 World Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly close to finalising a new contract with the United States Soccer Federation that would see him remain head coach through the 2030 World Cup. The Athletic cited sources saying the two parties are "close" to an agreement after the federation presented an extension offer in June, shortly after the U.S. topped Group D at the tournament.

U.S. Soccer CEO J.T. Batson told reporters on July 16 that discussions were still "active". On the same day, Pochettino told Spanish radio Cadena Cope that a decision was expected within a week, saying, "We are evaluating it, looking at it. They [US Soccer] have made me an offer to continue and we will see. Next week we will take a decision."

Pochettino, hired in September 2024, has compiled a 17-2-12 record in 31 matches, guiding the United States to the Round of 16 and a 12th-place finish at the 2026 World Cup, a tournament in which the team set a new record with 11 goals in five games. Financial terms of the prospective deal have not been disclosed.
