Jared Leto Denies Sexual Assault Allegations Highlighted in New BBC Documentary

Résumé

The actor refuted claims of sexual misconduct involving several women, describing the accusations as false, after a BBC documentary presented multiple allegations.

Jared Leto issued a statement denying all sexual assault allegations featured in the BBC documentary "Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret." The 54-year-old actor said, "I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life," and called the claims "absolutely and categorically false." The documentary presented four women, identified by pseudonyms Isabel, Alex, Clara and Etta, who described alleged incidents that occurred when they were teenagers, ranging from a 2002 encounter in a motel bathroom to alleged grooming and explicit phone calls when the victims were 16 or 17. A fifth woman, referred to as Taylor, said Leto made a sexual comment about her chest at a music festival and asked a security guard to take her backstage. The film also included statements from men who worked with Leto’s band, noting discomfort with the age differences between Leto and the women allegedly invited backstage. The allegations follow a prior exposé by Air Mail that listed nine women accusing Leto of sexual impropriety, which he also denied at the time. Earlier reports from The Post alleged that Leto had approached teenage models and frequently texted 16- and 17-year-olds.
