Jared Leto faces new accusations of sexual misconduct involving teenage girls

Four women have accused Oscar-winning actor and musician Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct that they say occurred when they were teenagers between 2002 and 2016. One alleges she was assaulted in a motel bathroom at age 17, another says he threatened sexual assault when she was 19, a third describes statutory-rape-type sex at age 17, and a fourth says he made repeated explicit phone calls and suggested sex when she was 16. The women say they were offered non-disclosure agreements, which they refused to sign. A BBC documentary, "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret," includes their testimonies and statements from friends, family, and two former band staff members who described a pattern of Leto inviting under-age girls backstage and to private rooms.

The documentary also features accounts from additional women who received sexually charged phone calls from Leto as minors, and from a woman who was 14 when a security guard escorted her backstage after Leto made a lewd comment about her chest. The BBC says it has corroborated parts of the stories with messages, photographs and third-party interviews.

Leto did not respond to repeated requests for comment before the documentary’s release. In a statement to U.S. media, he said, "I have never assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false." The allegations add to more than 120 prior online claims and earlier reports that surfaced in 2023.

The BBC documentary is available for viewing online, and support resources are listed for anyone affected by sexual abuse or violence.
