CBS announced that New York Times columnist Ross Douthat, author Sebastian Junger and Vice News reporter Gianna Toboni will join 60 Minutes as correspondents or contributors as part of a broader staff overhaul.

CBS News has expanded the reporting team of its Sunday-night newsmagazine 60 Minutes with three new hires. New York Times columnist Ross Doutht will serve as a correspondent, while author Sebastian Junger and Vice News veteran Gianna Toboni will join as contributors. The changes also include veteran journalist Trevor Phillips, who will contribute as a senior global affairs correspondent.

The new appointments join existing correspondents Bill Whitaker, Lesley Stahl and Jon Wertheim, as well as long-time contributor Norah O’Donnell, whose on-air presence is set to increase. Executive producer Nick Bilton, who took over the program after a restructuring earlier this year, announced the hires in an internal memo.

Bilton, appointed by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, has been overseeing a revamp of the show that followed the departure of former executive producer and several senior correspondents. The staffing changes come after internal tensions that led to the dismissal of veteran correspondent Scott Pelley and a brief consideration by other staff members of leaving the program. The remaining team affirmed their commitment to continue working on 60 Minutes.
