CBS News adds four new correspondents and contributors to "60 Minutes"

Résumé

"60 Minutes" will expand its reporting team for its 59th season, adding Ross Douthat, Sebastian Junger, Gianna Toboni and Trevor Phillips, while promoting Norah O'Donnell to correspondent.

CBS News announced that four journalists will join the "60 Minutes" team for its upcoming season. Ross Douthat, a New York Times opinion columnist, will serve as a correspondent, while author and documentary filmmaker Sebastian Junger and former VICE News and CNN reporter Gianna Toboni will join as contributors. Trevor Phillips, previously a Sky News presenter and recently named senior global affairs correspondent for CBS News, will also contribute to the program. The additions complement veteran correspondents Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim, and elevate Norah O'Donnell from contributing correspondent to full-time correspondent.

Executive producer Nick Bilton highlighted each new hire’s background, noting Douthat’s interviews with public figures, Junger’s bestselling books and documentary work, Toboni’s investigative reporting on issues such as ISIS and the death penalty, and Phillips’s reputation for rigorous questioning in the United Kingdom.

"Norah is a powerhouse," Bilton wrote, adding that she will appear more frequently on the show.

The network did not disclose specific scheduling details for the new correspondents.
