Apple to Introduce New Smart Home Hub Between October and Early 2025

Résumé

Apple is planning to launch a smart home hub featuring Siri AI, a 7-inch display and both tabletop and wall-mounted versions, with availability expected from October through early next year.

Apple is preparing to release a new smart home hub sometime between October and early next year, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman reported. The device will combine a HomePod-style speaker with a 7-inch screen and run a custom operating system derived from tvOS, incorporating elements of watchOS and iOS. Apple expects the hub to be offered in both tabletop and wall-mounted configurations, anticipating that consumers may purchase multiple units for different rooms.

The hub is expected to center on Siri AI and include built-in facial recognition that tailors the displayed information to the identified user. The interface will feature a grid of icons, widgets, apps and customizable clock faces, with interface elements resizing as users approach or move away from the screen.

Planned functionalities encompass FaceTime video calls, home security monitoring, HomeKit accessory control, photo galleries, calendar integration, music playback and an intercom system for households with several Apple devices. Apple is also reportedly developing an advanced in-home security camera aimed at competing with existing market offerings.
