Resumen

A coordinated cyberattack targeted the technology of more than 30 water utilities in Minnesota on July 26-27, prompting a state-led response but causing no reported disruption to residents' water use.

State officials said a coordinated cyberattack affected the technology of more than 30 community water systems in Minnesota on Sunday and Monday, July 26-27. Minnesota IT Services activated its cybersecurity incident-response capabilities and is working with federal and private partners to investigate the breach and bolster infrastructure security. Four cities – Plymouth, South St. Paul, Maple Plain and Braham – confirmed the attacks but reported that impacts were limited, allowing residents to continue normal water consumption. The Minnesota Department of Health said no municipality has asked residents to change their drinking-water habits. > "Cyberattacks against critical infrastructure require a coordinated, whole-of-government response," said John Israel, Minnesota IT Services Assistant Commissioner and Chief Information Security Officer, adding that the state's response helped contain the incident and prevent more serious impacts.
