Judge orders jury to view Duxbury home in Lindsay Clancy murder trial

Ամփոփում

A Massachusetts judge has directed jurors to tour the house where Lindsay Clancy is accused of killing her three children, allowing only legal parties and court staff inside.

A judge in Plymouth County has ordered that jurors in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial be permitted to view the Duxbury residence where the 2023 deaths of her three children occurred. The ruling limits access to prosecutors, defense counsel, the defendant, the judge, jurors and essential court personnel, while barring all other individuals.

Jurors will be allowed to see the exterior of the home and to walk through the basement and each room on the first and second floors, but they may not touch any objects or open closets and doors. The Massachusetts State Police and Duxbury police will secure the property before the jurors, a panel of twelve women and six men, arrive.

Clancy faces three counts of murder for the deaths of her 5-year-old daughter Cora, 3-year-old son Dawson and 8-month-old son Callan. She pleaded not guilty and remains hospitalized at Tewksbury State Hospital after sustaining a spinal injury from a self-inflicted fall.

During opening statements, Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham described the children’s deaths as the result of deliberate actions, while defense attorney Kevin Reddington argued that Clancy’s mental state at the time should be examined. The trial will resume with further testimony from Clancy’s ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, who spoke about her postpartum mental-health struggles.
