Savannah Guthrie releases new video pleading for information on missing mother
The journalist posted a video urging anyone with knowledge of her 84-year-old mother’s disappearance near Tucson to come forward, as investigators continue to examine kidnapping and ransom claims.
Savannah Guthrie, co-host of the "Today" show, posted a new video on Monday asking anyone with information about her mother, Nancy Guthrie, to help locate the 84-year-old who vanished on Feb. 1 from her home outside Tucson, Arizona. The family has been conducting searches in the surrounding desert and near the Arizona-Mexico border, while federal investigators examine surveillance footage and several ransom-style notes.
"The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place, and I know that you have tried to do things the right way. So I'm asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now. Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her. I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing," Guthrie said in the video.
Authorities say blood was found near the front doorstep and a masked individual was captured on surveillance the night of the disappearance. The FBI has dismissed some of the ransom letters as extortion attempts but continues to evaluate others for credibility. Guthrie’s family has offered a $1 million reward for information leading to her mother’s recovery.
