Kyle Shanahan's car accident details revealed by former teammate Chris Simms

Resumen

Former NFL quarterback Chris Simms disclosed the extent of coach Kyle Shanahan's injuries from a July 14 car crash, noting broken ribs, facial stitches, a broken nose and hand, and an ongoing concussion.

The San Francisco 49ers confirmed on July 25 that head coach Kyle Shanahan was involved in a serious automobile collision on July 14, prompting speculation about why the news was withheld for 11 days. Former quarterback Chris Simms, a longtime friend of Shanahan, discussed the incident on his PFT Live broadcast.

"I got a text from Kyle’s wife, Mandy, saying he’d been in a horrible accident and sending pictures," Simms said. He described the injuries as including broken ribs, 40 stitches to the face, a broken nose, a broken left hand and a concussion, adding that Shanahan was close to losing his right eye.

Simms noted that Shanahan initially expected the concussion symptoms to resolve quickly, but by the sixth or seventh day he realized his cognitive function remained impaired. The coach attended the opening day of training camp for about 30 minutes and will continue to work on a limited basis until cleared by medical staff.

The 49ers chose to release the information on the same day the camp began, aligning the announcement with the team's schedule.
