Three killed and several injured in shooting at Seattle food festival

A shooting at the Bite of Seattle food festival near the Space Needle on Sunday resulted in three fatalities and several injuries, authorities said. Police reported that two suspects were firing at each other; one was taken into custody while the other remains at large, though officials indicated there is no ongoing threat to the public. The incident occurred at about 18:00 local time as crowds gathered for the popular event.

Emergency responders treated four injured persons in stable condition and one who declined treatment, according to the fire department. Among the injured was a two-year-old child. Witnesses described people seeking cover behind pillars and merchandise displays in the Space Needle lobby.

Mayor Katie Wilson thanked police officers for their response and noted the arrest of a suspect. Governor Bob Ferguson expressed condolences to the victims' families, and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal said the community was grappling with the tragedy.

The investigation continues as authorities search for the second suspect.
