Tadej Pogačar claims fifth Tour de France title as final stage concludes in Paris

摘要

Slovenian rider Tadej Pogačar secured his fifth overall victory in the 2026 Tour de France, finishing ahead of Remco Evenepoel and Isaac Del Toro after a shortened 88.7 km final stage on the Champs-Élysées and Montmartre circuit.

Slovenian rider Tadej Pogačar won the 2026 Tour de France, marking his fifth overall triumph and joining an elite group that includes Eddy Merckx and Jacques Anquetil. Pogačar finished the race in 73:56:26, with Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel 6:26 behind and Mexico’s Isaac Del Toro 9:42 back.

The final stage was reduced to 88.7 km due to police redeployment for wildfire control in southern France. The route started on the Champs-Élysées, included three laps of the Montmartre circuit, and featured the cobbled climb of Butte Montmartre for the second consecutive year.

Mathieu van der Poel won the stage, completing the circuit in 1:58:49, followed by Jasper Philipsen and Mads Pedersen.

Other classification leaders were confirmed: Mads Pedersen retained the green points jersey, Richard Carapaz held the polka-dot King of the Mountains jersey, and Isaac Del Toro kept the white best-young-rider jersey.

In post-race comments, van der Poel said the victory felt like a “dream” after a challenging race and praised Pogačar’s performance. Pogačar, when asked about a possible start in the Vuelta a España later in the season, replied, “Let’s see.”
