Oklahoma mother found dead in apparent murder-suicide after alleging husband’s abuse

Resumen

Police say 43-year-old Sara Duffey was shot by her husband, Jeremiah Duffey, in their Collinsville home days after she posted online accusations of his sexual misconduct.

Police in Oklahoma confirmed that Sara Duffey, 43, and her husband Jeremiah Shawn Duffey, 48, were discovered dead from gunshot wounds in a suburban Tulsa home on Thursday. Authorities indicated the incident was a murder-suicide, with Jeremiah allegedly shooting Sara before taking his own life.

Sara had filed a protective order on June 10 to keep Jeremiah away from their Collinsville residence. On the same day, another protective order was sought against him concerning a separate minor, after a youth basketball coach reported that Jeremiah had been caught kissing and fondling the girl and had sent her inappropriate messages.

The allegations were also reflected in Sara’s social-media activity. On July 11, she posted a TikTok video referencing a forthcoming documentary about her husband, whom she claimed to have discovered was a pedophile. The video later amassed millions of views.

Police received an emergency call at 11:15 p.m. from inside the home, reporting a woman screaming and a possible gunshot. A second call came from a neighbor, reporting that a boy said his stepfather had shot his mother. Responding officers found both bodies and identified the scene as a likely murder-suicide.

Sara’s son was placed in the custody of another parent not involved in the case. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about intimate-partner violence, which the CDC reports accounts for a significant share of female homicides in the United States.
