Rams coach Sean McVay offers support to injured 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan

सारांश

Rams head coach Sean McVay said 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is in good spirits after a July 14 car crash that left him with a severe concussion, broken bones and facial lacerations, and will coach limitedly during training camp.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is recovering from serious injuries sustained in a car accident on July 14. The incident resulted in a severe concussion, multiple broken bones and facial lacerations that required 40 stitches. Shanahan is expected to fulfill coaching duties on a limited basis during the upcoming training camp.

Rams head coach Sean McVay, who previously worked with Shanahan as an assistant in Washington, said he spoke with Shanahan shortly after the crash. > "Most importantly, thank God he and the other person involved is okay. Perspective is everything. I think the most important thing is that he’s on the road to recovery. His wife Mandy, and he’s got a beautiful family, and I think any time that something like that happens, it shakes you up a little bit. But most importantly, I have talked to him. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family, and I know he’s got an incredible perspective on it all. I have as much respect for him as anybody and he’s a friend of mine, and I hope that he’s going to have a great recovery."

Shanahan and McVay have been NFC West rivals since 2017, with Shanahan’s 49ers holding an 11-7 regular-season record against McVay’s Rams. The two coaches also faced each other in the NFC Championship Game after the 2021 season, a contest the Rams won.
