Marvel Announces Black Panther 3 for December 2028 with David Jonsson as T'Challa's Son

Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige and director Ryan Coogler revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con panel that the third Black Panther film is scheduled for release on Dec. 15, 2028 and will be filmed on 70mm. The announcement also confirmed that actor David Jonsson will portray an adult version of T'Challa’s son, a role introduced in the 2022 sequel.

Jonsson, who has appeared in recent projects such as Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk, thanked the audience for the opportunity to join the franchise.

The sequel follows the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which ended with the revelation that T'Challa and Nakia had a young son. The new film is expected to continue the storyline after next year’s Avengers: Secret Wars and may influence the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Black Panther series began with the 2018 film starring Chadwick Boseman. After Boseman's death in 2020, the franchise shifted focus to Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, in the 2022 sequel, which earned over $850 million worldwide and received multiple Oscar nominations.
