Chiefs coach says Patrick Mahomes cleared to practice after ACL tear

Resumen

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that quarterback Patrick Mahomes has received medical clearance to fully participate in training camp following his December ACL injury.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced on Friday that quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who tore his ACL in December, has been cleared by doctors to take part in all practice sessions at training camp. Reid said Mahomes is progressing well in rehabilitation and will receive the same repetitions as other quarterbacks at the start of camp, which began Friday for quarterbacks and rookies.

Reid emphasized that the team will monitor Mahomes’ condition daily and did not commit to a timeline for his return to game action. He noted that while the coaching staff, trainers, and medical personnel will keep a close eye on the quarterback, the current focus is on allowing him to participate fully in camp activities.

"Pat’s doing great with his rehab and has clearance to practice," Reid said. "We’ll take it day by day and see how he does."

Reid added that decisions about Mahomes’ involvement in upcoming games will be made later, once his progress can be evaluated during the camp schedule.
