Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo arrested on suspicion of OWI in Milwaukee
Tony Romo was detained by Milwaukee County authorities on suspicion of operating while under the influence and released after being cited, with a court date set for September 21.
Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office officials said former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was stopped around 6 p.m. Thursday while traveling southbound on Interstate 43 and failed standard field-sobriety tests. He was taken into custody on suspicion of operating while under the influence (OWI) and later released after receiving a citation. In Wisconsin, a first-offense OWI is typically treated as a civil matter, carrying a fine of $150 to $300. Romo, a four-time Pro Bowl selection and current CBS NFL analyst, has a court appearance scheduled for Sept. 21. He grew up in Burlington, Wisconsin, where a high-school football field was named in his honor in 2020.
