Former Indiana Fever player alleges staff dismissal over harassment claims
Former Fever forward Brianna Turner said the team fired a male staff member for sexual harassment and barred discussion of the case, while responding to teammate Sophie Cunningham's comments on trans athletes.
Former Indiana Fever forward Brianna Turner, now with the Las Vegas Aces, said on the social media platform X that the Fever dismissed a male staff member after sexual-harassment allegations were made against him during her tenure with the team. Turner added that the organization instructed players not to discuss the matter publicly.
Turner posted the comments in response to teammate Sophie Cunningham’s remarks in an ESPN interview, where Cunningham said she wants to protect “young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.” Turner argued that internal misconduct poses a greater threat to the sport than the presence of trans athletes, noting that only one trans player has competed in the league and “caused zero problems.”
The Indiana Fever issued a statement saying that protecting players and employees and maintaining a respectful workplace are top priorities. The team said it takes concerns seriously, investigates thoroughly, and acts promptly when appropriate, but declined to comment on personnel matters involving former employees.
The WNBA has not announced any investigation into Turner’s allegations, and the league has not publicly responded as of Thursday.
