New Details Emerge in Investigation of Kaylee Hottle's Fatal Crash

Résumé

Authorities have clarified that alcohol was not a factor in the crash that killed 19-year-old actress Kaylee Hottle, while drug test results and potential charges for the driver remain pending.

A recent update on the July 21 fatal crash that killed Kaylee Hottle, a 19-year-old actress known for roles in the Monsterverse franchise, indicates that alcohol impairment has been ruled out for the driver, a friend of Hottle who survived the accident. The investigation continues as officials await the results of a drug test and consider possible criminal charges.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office said the driver’s charges are still under discussion, noting that the case remains open. Earlier reports described the incident as a speeding collision involving a 1995 Honda Accord that left the road and entered a ditch, causing multiple blunt-force injuries that led to Hottle’s death.

Hottle’s father, Joshua Hottle, confirmed the death during a live-streamed statement, saying his daughter’s heart stopped while en route to the hospital. The actress, who began her career in a 2017 commercial for the Glide messaging app, had appeared in "Magnum P.I." and was slated to reprise her role as Jia in future Monsterverse projects and to star in the pre-production film "What Doesn't Kill You."
