Charlie Woods eliminated from U.S. Junior Amateur after camera distraction
Tiger Woods' son missed the cut for match play at the U.S. Junior Amateur after a phone camera click disrupted his third shot in a playoff.
Charlie Woods was knocked out of the U.S. Junior Amateur after a 14-player playoff for two remaining spots. The 15-year-old, who finished tied for 63rd with rounds of 76 and 70 at Saucon Valley, bogeyed the first playoff hole when a phone camera click startled him during his third shot.
Woods' second shot on the par-5 hole landed in the rough near the green, and he missed his third after hearing the noise. He later expressed frustration, saying, "Really, dude? I mean, come on."
Miles Russell, who will join Woods at Florida State, led the stroke-play portion as co-medalist at 6-under 135. Eli Wessel and Hudson Kutchma advanced after pars on the second playoff hole, a par-3 fifth.
