The National Weather Service confirmed four tornadoes—three in northern New Jersey and one in Cape May—during Tuesday's severe weather, with damage limited to trees and no reported property loss.

The National Weather Service said four tornadoes touched down in New Jersey on Tuesday, with three confirmed in the northern part of the state and a fourth in Cape May that began as a waterspout before moving ashore. Survey teams inspected damage on Wednesday, noting that the storms caused flash flooding and downed tree canopies along a wooded corridor from Route 183 to Continental Drive near Interstate 80 in Sussex County. No structures were reported damaged.

Local residents described the event as sudden and hazardous. > "On first blush, we got very lucky because another 1,000 yards or so in any direction and that would’ve been going through some neighborhoods," said Stanhope homeowner Steve Gumeny. > "There was little to no warning from where I was. I was in my car driving home and it was just a challenge. I had to make a decision to get back to the store and take shelter," said Marcello Ramirez, who was leaving work at The Plumbing Store on Route 183 when heavy rain reduced visibility. Ramirez turned around, returned to the store, and later observed fallen trees blocking the flooded road. Local crews have since cleared the debris.

Authorities emphasized that the tornadoes caused primarily arboreal damage, and no injuries or property losses were reported.
