The actor expressed regret for a 2012 Funny or Die sketch in which he touched Stodden, then 17, and Stodden called for further accountability.

Jason Alexander issued a public apology for a 2012 Funny or Die sketch in which he rubbed a cellphone against Courtney Stodden’s breasts while she was 17. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Alexander said he “completely agree[d] that it was inappropriate and I truly regret it,” adding that he was “deeply sorry for any harm or distress it has caused Ms. Stodden.”

Stodden responded that while she appreciated the apology, a private apology and concrete actions would be more meaningful. She suggested Alexander support the Unchained At Last campaign and legislation aimed at ending child marriage.

In an Instagram post, Stodden shared a still from the sketch and reiterated that she was a minor at the time, noting that contracts were signed by adults and the payment went to her then-husband, actor Doug Hutchison. She emphasized that she could not legally consent to the content and called for stronger protections for children.

“If he truly regrets what happened, I’d invite him to support Unchained At Last and the fight to end child marriage through AB 1267,” Stodden wrote.

The incident has reignited discussion about the responsibilities of adult performers and producers when minors are involved in comedic productions.
