Samsung unveils new Galaxy Fold 8 series, Z Flip 8 and upgraded Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2

Resumen

Samsung announced three new foldable phones and two refreshed smartwatches, all featuring Snapdragon processors and design upgrades, with pre-orders starting today and shipments slated for early August.

Samsung introduced three new foldable smartphones at its July 2026 Unpacked event: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. All three devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and share a base configuration of 12 GB RAM with either 256 GB or 512 GB of storage; the Fold 8 Ultra and Fold 8 also offer a 16 GB RAM/1 TB storage option. The phones use Samsung’s new Flex Titanium construction, which adds a titanium-alloy layer beneath the flexible OLED to improve durability, reduce crease visibility and provide a smoother opening experience.

The Fold 8 series retains a 10 MP wide-angle selfie camera capable of 4K @ 60 fps, while the Z Flip 8’s cover camera also shoots 4K @ 60 fps. Main cameras on the Fold models feature a 50 MP primary sensor and a 50 MP ultrawide sensor with 10× digital zoom and 8K video at 30 fps; the Flip 8 uses a 50 MP main lens and a 12 MP ultrawide lens. Battery capacities are 4,800 mAh for the Fold 8 devices and 4,300 mAh for the Flip 8, both supporting Samsung’s Super Fast Charging 2.0 (wired and wireless). Prices start at $1,200 for the Z Flip 8 and $1,900 for the Z Fold 8, with the Ultra variant priced higher.

Alongside the phones, Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Both run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite 3 nm processor, the first wearable chip with a dedicated Hexagon NPU for AI workloads. The Watch 9’s 390 mAh battery offers about 20 % more capacity than its predecessor, while the Ultra 2 gains a 5,000-nit peak brightness and an 800 mAh battery—35 % larger—yet its titanium case is 12 % thinner. The Watch 9 is available in 40 mm (graphite or cream) and 44 mm (graphite or silver) aluminum variants, starting at $380 (Bluetooth) and $430 (LTE). The 47 mm Ultra 2, offered in titanium gray or silver, starts at $700. Pre-orders begin today, with retail availability set for August 7.

Samsung also previewed upcoming smart glasses developed with Google, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, noting a nine-hour battery life and a charging case providing seven additional full charges, though pricing and launch dates were not disclosed.
