Jason Alexander apologizes to Courtney Stodden over 2012 sketch

Resumen

Actor Jason Alexander issued a statement apologizing to Courtney Stodden for a 2012 comedy sketch that she says was inappropriate when she was a minor.

Actor Jason Alexander has publicly apologized to reality-TV personality Courtney Stodden after she highlighted a 2012 Funny or Die sketch in which she appeared at age 17. The sketch, a parody of daytime talk shows, showed Alexander rubbing a cellphone on Stodden’s chest while delivering a joke about signal strength. In a statement to media, Alexander said, "Looking back at the comedy sketch in which Ms. Stodden and I participated in 2012, I completely agree that it was inappropriate and I truly regret it. But more importantly, I am deeply sorry for any harm or distress it has caused Ms. Stodden. I offer her my sincerest apologies." Stodden resurfaced the clip on Instagram, describing the incident as a “minor’s body became part of an adult joke” and noting that she could not legally consent to the content. She added that the episode has prompted her advocacy for California legislation (AB1267) that would raise the minimum age for marriage to 18. The former “Seinfeld” star’s representatives have not provided additional comment.
