Boseman brothers seek court removal of widow as estate administrator

Summary

Chadwick Boseman's brothers have filed a petition in Los Angeles court to have his widow, Taylor Ledward Boseman, removed as administrator of his estate, alleging mismanagement and failure to comply with a 2022 court order.

Kevin and Derrick Boseman filed legal documents in a Los Angeles court on Friday seeking to have their sister-in-law, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, removed as administrator of Chadwick Boseman's estate. The brothers argue that, despite a 2022 court order granting their parents a combined 50 % share of the estate, the widow has not provided an accounting of assets and has not completed distribution of the remaining half.

The estate, which includes film residuals, royalties, image and intellectual-property rights, investments, insurance policies, bank accounts and personal belongings, is said to contain more than $3 million in various accounts. The brothers contend that the widow has not transferred a long-term care insurance policy to their mother, has not closed or distributed funds from bank accounts, and has not accounted for SAG-AFTRA residual payments earned after Chadwick Boseman's death.

"We ask the court to hold Ms. Boseman in contempt for failing to follow the 2022 order and to require a full accounting within 30 days," the filing states.

The petition also requests that the court permanently remove Taylor Ledward Boseman as administrator, appoint attorney Jason Rubin in her place, bar her from signing major contracts involving the estate without family approval, and order her to cover the family’s attorney fees and legal costs.
