Chadwick Boseman's brothers seek court removal of widow as estate administrator

Summary

Derrick and Kevin Boseman have filed a petition in Los Angeles court to replace their sister-in-law, Taylor Simone Ledward, as administrator of Chadwick Boseman's estate, alleging mismanagement and lack of transparency.

Two of Chadwick Boseman's brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman, have asked a Los Angeles court to remove his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, from her role as administrator of his multimillion-dollar estate. The petition, filed last week, argues that Ledward has not fully distributed the assets, which include royalties, image rights, investments, insurance policies and several bank accounts, and that she continues to control the estate without input from the actor’s parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman.

According to the filing, the estate was divided equally among the parents and Ledward after Boseman died intestate in 2020, with each parent receiving 25 percent and Ledward 50 percent. The brothers request that a private fiduciary and forensic accountant be appointed to oversee a full accounting of the estate and to investigate alleged mismanagement.

The brothers said in a statement that their parents have sought clarity about the estate and that they aim to ensure transparency and accountability in line with court orders. They added that they want to preserve Chadwick Boseman's legacy with dignity and integrity.

Ledward, an R&B artist who married Boseman in 2020, has not responded to requests for comment. Boseman, who died at age 43 after a private battle with colon cancer, was known for roles such as T’Challa in "Black Panther" and for his advocacy on colorectal cancer awareness.
