Courtney Stodden and Jason Alexander Apologize for 2012 Sketch Involving Minor
Courtney Stodden, now 31, said a comedy sketch filmed when she was 17 made her uncomfortable, and Jason Alexander expressed regret and apologized for his role.
Courtney Stodden posted on Instagram a still from a 2012 comedy sketch produced by Funny or Die, recalling that she was 17 at the time of filming. She said the routine involved Jason Alexander rubbing a phone across her chest while making a joke about signal, and that Alexander made a comment suggesting sexual interest in her. The short, titled “The Donny Clay Show with Courtney Stodden,” was co-written by Alexander and also featured Stodden’s then-husband Doug Hutchinson.
Stodden wrote that, with hindsight, the sketch turned her body into “an adult joke” and questioned how adults deemed the content acceptable. Alexander, speaking through a spokesperson, said he “completely agree[s] that it was inappropriate and I truly regret it,” adding that he is “deeply sorry for any harm or distress it has caused Ms. Stodden” and offered his “sincerest apologies.”
