Sony is negotiating a lease with Robertson Property Group to revive the dormant Cinerama Dome and Arclight cinema complex in Hollywood, with plans to involve its Alamo Drafthouse chain.

Sony is reportedly negotiating a lease with Robertson Property Group to reopen the Cinerama Dome and the adjacent Arclight multiplex in Hollywood, which have been closed since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The discussions also include the possibility that Sony's recently acquired Alamo Drafthouse chain would manage the venues once they are renovated.

The property at 6360 Sunset Boulevard was previously operated by Pacific Theatres and Arclight before the Forman family’s Decurion group entered Chapter 7 bankruptcy amid the pandemic. The Arclight name cannot be used in any future operation of the site, according to sources familiar with the proceedings.

Before its closure, the Cinerama Dome was among the top-grossing multiplexes on a typical weekend and served as a launch venue for independent and awards-season films. The Arclight complex, opened in 2002 with 15 screens, was noted for its stadium seating design.

Sony has not commented on the negotiations. > "We have heard for some time that the Forman family was taking secret meetings with exhibitors and studios for a new operator of the Cinerama Dome and Hollywood Arclight," a source familiar with the talks said.
