Chloe Fineman Discusses Phone Call with Lorne Michaels Amid SNL Departure
Chloe Fineman said she informed SNL creator Lorne Michaels of her exit while he was watching a World Cup match, and confirmed she left after seven seasons to pursue new projects.
Chloe Fineman told Variety at the Apple TV+ premiere of “The Dink” that she called SNL creator Lorne Michaels to announce her departure while he was watching the England-Argentina World Cup semifinal. > "He was, in classic form, he was watching England vs. Argentina," Fineman said, adding that Michaels replied he would call back after the game. After the match, the two reportedly had a "lovely chat" about her decision.
Fineman announced her exit from the sketch-comedy series on Instagram, saying she had completed seven seasons and felt it was time for a new chapter. She joined the NBC show in 2019 and described the experience as a privilege and the cast as a family.
According to an insider, Fineman’s departure came shortly after she received an offer for a role in David E. Kelley’s Netflix drama “Myron Bolitar,” which she accepted. The same source suggested there had been some tension with fellow cast members, though a second source close to the show denied those claims.
