Ed Harris says he was misled about his role on 'Dutton Ranch'

Résumé

The actor told Variety he felt his part was downplayed after being promised a main-character status on the Paramount+ series.

Actor Ed Harris said his experience on the Paramount+ series "Dutton Ranch" was disappointing, claiming the role he was promised did not match what was delivered. Harris told Variety that before signing on he was told he would be one of four main characters, but he later found his screen time and storyline were limited. He added that while his character, veterinarian and war veteran Everett McKinney, was "relatively important to the story," the execution did not reflect that importance. Harris indicated he may have a larger presence in the second season, noting there would be "a little bit more to do" for his character.

The series, a spin-off of the popular western drama "Yellowstone," premiered to strong viewership on Paramount+. Harris' comments highlight a discrepancy between pre-production expectations and the final on-screen treatment of his character.
