Aaron Rodgers posts family photos on Instagram after years of estrangement

Résumé

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers shared several Instagram images with his parents, brother and niece, marking his first public family photos since reconciling with relatives after a decade-long split.

Aaron Rodgers posted five Instagram photos on Monday featuring his mother Darla, father Ed, brother Luke, a toy-building moment with Luke, and a picture with his niece, captioning the set "Another bonding week." The images represent the quarterback's first public family snapshots since he began using the platform in 2017 and follow a gradual thaw in a relationship that had been strained for more than ten years.

Rodgers, who announced that the 2026 season will be his final year in the NFL, said in a 2024 documentary, "I was quiet about it, because I thought the best way to do it was [to] not talk about it publicly," referring to the family feud that became public after his brother appeared on a reality show in 2016. He also cited differences over religion and his interest in alternative practices as contributing factors to the estrangement.

The reconciliation appears to have begun after Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets in 2023, when his father attended a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe and later his parents attended his first Jets game. Rodgers is set to report to the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp on July 28 for his 22nd NFL season, where he will also reunite with head coach Mike McCarthy, who previously coached him in Green Bay.
