White Sox rally past Rangers 10-3 behind Benintendi's bases-clearing double

摘要

Chicago overcame an early deficit to beat Texas 10-3, highlighted by Andrew Benintendi's five-run double, while rookie catcher Kyle Teel left with a likely ankle injury.

The Chicago White Sox defeated the Texas Rangers 10-3 on Tuesday, snapping a slow start with a decisive five-run fifth inning. After Jacob deGrom walked Sam Antonacci and Munetaka Murakami doubled without scoring, the Sox trailed 2-0. Andrew Benintendi delivered the turning point, hitting a bases-clearing double with two outs and the bases loaded to put Chicago ahead 5-2.

Chicago’s bullpen combined for a strong nine-inning effort, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out 14. Reliever Trevor Richards finished the game, and the bullpen’s work helped offset the loss of rookie catcher Kyle Teel, who exited in the second inning after a non-contact injury at the plate and is expected to miss an extended period.

Sam Antonacci contributed a leadoff walk and later a single that set up scoring opportunities, while Miguel Vargas added a two-out double that drove in a run earlier and later hit a double in the ninth to extend the lead. The Rangers’ early lead came from a solo homer by Joc Pederson and a two-run double by Ezequiel Duran, but Chicago’s offense surged in the later innings.

The win marks Chicago’s seventh game above .500 this season. Texas starter Erick Fedde was pulled after four pitches, and the Rangers could not recover from the ninth-inning rally.
