Jerry O'Connell apologizes to Giuliana Rancic for past breakup over building intercom

Jerry O'Connell told Kelly Ripa on the SiriusXM program "Let's Talk Off Camera" that his short-lived romance with Giuliana Rancic ended poorly in 2004. He said he "broke up with her through an intercom" after she arrived unannounced at his condominium, a detail that Rancic described in her 2015 memoir.
"I’m not kidding – I was a terrible boyfriend," O'Connell said, adding that he regretted his behavior. He explained that he was surprised by her visit and did not want anyone entering his building without prior notice.
Ripa read a passage from the memoir in which Rancic responded to O'Connell’s intercom remarks with a brief, dismissive line. O'Connell could not recall his exact words but acknowledged the exchange made for a memorable quote. Both have since moved on, with O'Connell marrying Rebecca Romijn in 2007 and Rancic marrying Bill Rancic the same year.
