The actor claimed he was told he would be one of the four main characters in the Yellowstone spinoff, but felt his part was minor and considered leaving the series.

Ed Harris told Variety at the Monday night premiere of Apple TV+’s "The Dink" that he felt misled about the significance of his role in the Paramount+ series "Dutton Ranch," a spinoff of "Yellowstone." He said he was led to believe he would be one of four main characters, a description he later said did not match his experience on set.

"Prior to signing on for it, I was talked to quite a bit about what the season was, and what my character was going to do — and that I was one of the four main characters," Harris said.

During filming, Harris described feeling underused and inconsequential, and at one point asked his team to remove him from the production. He added that producers indicated his character would have more screen time in the second season, but he remained frustrated.

Harris, who plays veterinarian Everett McKinney, said he found the series "pretty good" when he watched it, but the on-set experience differed. He recalled a scene in which his character was to sing in a bar being cut, which he said angered him.

"I walk up to the mic, and they cut the song out. I’m going, ‘Fuck you, people.'"

Paramount, series creator Taylor Sheridan and 101 Studios did not respond to requests for comment. Harris is contracted for two seasons, but it is unclear whether he will continue with the show.
