Charlie Woods Posts Five-Over 76 in First Round of U.S. Junior Amateur
Charlie Woods shot a 76 (+5) in the opening round of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, leaving him well outside the cut line after a difficult start.
Charlie Woods recorded a five-over 76 in the first round of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship on Monday at Saucon Valley Country Club's Old Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. After a six-over start through the first five holes, he rallied with a birdie on the sixth and then posted ten pars, a bogey on the 12th and a birdie on the 18th to finish one-under for the last 13 holes. The tournament begins with two rounds of stroke play, one on the Old Course and one on the Grace Course, with the top 64 players advancing to match play. As of 2 p.m. ET, the cut line was set at one-over; Woods' score placed him outside the top 150, but a stronger performance on Tuesday could improve his standing.
