Samsung to unveil Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, new smart glasses and wearables at Unpacked event

Résumé

Samsung is set to launch its latest foldable phones, including the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, alongside new Galaxy Glasses and updated smartwatches, with details on design, hardware and pricing emerging from leaks and store displays.

Samsung is preparing to showcase a range of new devices at its upcoming Unpacked event, featuring the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, a pair of smart glasses and refreshed wearables. Leaked images and reports indicate the Z Fold 8 will retain a 5.4-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch inner display, with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and a 4,800 mAh battery. The Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to carry a larger 5,000 mAh battery and a triple-camera module, while the standard model may be limited to a 50 MP main and a 50 MP ultrawide sensor.

"The new Flex Titanium technology adds a titanium plate beneath the OLED panel to improve durability and reduce the visibility of the central crease," Samsung said in a product briefing.

The company is also rumored to price the Z Fold 8 starting at about $1,900 in the United States, with the Ultra variant beginning near $2,100, reflecting broader industry cost pressures. In parallel, Samsung is developing Galaxy Glasses that appear similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban collaboration, using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 platform, bone-conduction audio and integration with its Gemini AI assistant. Early leaks suggest the glasses will run a custom One UI XR interface and may be controllable via a Galaxy Ring accessory.

Samsung’s wearable lineup is slated for an update as well, with the Galaxy Watch 9 series and a new Watch Ultra expected to feature upgraded BioActive health sensors, Snapdragon Wear Elite chips and AI-driven health insights such as Blood Pressure Trends. The Wearables app is also being redesigned to align with the latest One UI aesthetic and to allow users to generate custom watch information tiles via AI prompts.

Retail sightings in South Korea have shown the Z Fold 8 devices on display ahead of the official launch, offering a first look at the hardware that closely matches previously leaked renders. Samsung has not confirmed exact release dates, but the company has a history of previewing products in its stores before major events.
