Andrew and Tristan Tate to Appear Before Miami Federal Magistrate

Summary

Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate are scheduled to appear in a Miami federal court on Monday as U.S. authorities consider a British extradition request related to rape and sex-trafficking charges.

Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate will appear before a federal magistrate in Miami on Monday, following their arrest on Saturday. The pair are being held in federal detention while a U.S. district judge reviews a British extradition request concerning alleged rape, assault, trafficking and offenses involving indecent images of a child and extreme pornography that span 2010 to 2017.

British prosecutors say the new charges involve four additional victims and were filed after receiving evidence from Bedfordshire Police. The brothers already face earlier charges in the United Kingdom for rape, bodily harm, human trafficking and controlling prostitution related to three other alleged victims between 2012 and 2015.

Joseph McBride, the brothers' attorney, described the latest charges as "filth and slander" and expressed confidence that the extradition request will be denied. The Tate brothers, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship, moved to Romania in 2016 and were arrested there in 2022 on accusations of luring women for sexual exploitation. They denied those allegations, and the Romanian case has not proceeded due to legal and procedural issues. After being released from Romania last year, they traveled to Florida.

The case adds another chapter to a long-running international legal saga that has involved courts in the United States, the United Kingdom and Romania. The brothers have consistently denied any wrongdoing.
