President Trump Receives Boos During World Cup Final Broadcast
Donald Trump was booed by spectators at the 2026 World Cup final in New Jersey, where he appeared on stadium screens before presenting the trophy.
During the 2026 World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, President Donald Trump appeared on the venue's jumbotrons and was met with audible boos from the crowd, which included supporters of Argentina and Spain. The reaction occurred shortly after a performance of the national anthem by Jennifer Hudson.
Trump was shown seated beside First Lady Melania Trump in a box that was visible several times throughout the match.
Earlier in the tournament, the president contacted FIFA President Gianni Infantino regarding a red-card decision involving U.S. forward Folarin Balogun. The card was subsequently rescinded, and the United States was later eliminated from the round of 16 after a 4-1 loss to Belgium.
Despite the reception, Trump is scheduled to present the World Cup trophy to the winning team, a role he previously performed at the Club World Cup ceremony last summer.
