Oppo to discontinue OnePlus brand in US and Europe, shifting devices to ColorOS
Oppo announced the termination of the OnePlus brand in the United States and Europe, with plans to migrate all devices to ColorOS on Android 17 while continuing software support. India is expected to follow.
Oppo confirmed that the OnePlus brand will cease operations in the United States and Europe, citing a strategic decision to consolidate its smartphone portfolio. The company said that existing OnePlus devices will continue to receive software updates, but the OxygenOS interface will be retired and replaced by ColorOS starting with the rollout of Android 17.
The move is expected to affect the Indian market next, although no official timeline has been provided. Oppo indicated that the transition will be seamless for users, with the new ColorOS skin delivering the same core Android experience while aligning the OnePlus lineup with Oppo's broader ecosystem.
Industry observers note that OnePlus had previously shifted its design and software approach to mirror Oppo's offerings, a trend that may have contributed to the brand's reduced presence in Western markets. The shutdown marks the end of OnePlus as a distinct brand outside of Asia, with the company focusing on unified branding under Oppo.
