Caitlin Clark receives technical foul early in Fever win over Liberty
Indiana Fever defeated New York Liberty 108-88 despite Caitlin Clark being assessed a technical foul and a hard-screen incident early in the game.
Indiana Fever rallied to a 108-88 victory over the New York Liberty on Saturday, moving into first place in the Eastern Conference. Early in the first quarter, Caitlin Fever guard Caitlin Clark was assessed a technical foul after colliding with a hard screen set by Liberty forward Jonquel Jones. The foul was issued about 90 seconds into the game, marking Clark's sixth technical of the 2026 season and carrying a $1,000 fine that brings her close to a possible one-game suspension under league rules.
"There have to be conversations... making sure that we're strategic in using our technical fouls," Fever head coach Stephanie White said.
Later in the contest, a contact incident occurred when Liberty forward Breanna Stewart's arm brushed Clark's face during a defensive play; no foul or review was called. Despite the early technical and the contact, Clark contributed 17 points and seven assists, while teammate Kelsey Mitchell scored a game-high 33 points. The Fever overcame a 13-point first-half deficit to secure the 20-point win, improving their record to 16-10.
